| Tonne Leading sound artist and graphic designer. Honours include BAFTA and the ICA Imaginaria digital arts awards. Under the name Tonne, Farrington releases and performs electronic music. He has designed software that allows spontaneous generation of electronic music, and this has been released with tracks made using this software under the eponymously titled album, Sound Toys (Bip-Hop, 2002). He is currently working with Mute Records on a set of new soundtoys and various music related projects. Since this release Tonne has performed at Sintensi (Naples), Experimenta (Lisbon), Transmediale (Berlin), WEF (warsaw), Ars Electronica (Austria), Phonotaktik (Austria), Barbican (London) Splitski New Media Festival (Croatia), Sonar (Spain), Batofar (Paris), El (Stockholm), FCMN (Canada), Expanded Cinema (Italy), Lovebytes (UK) and Steim (Holland). Tonne has music releases on Bip-Hop, MItek, Unknown Public as well as MP3 tracks on Mille Plateaux and t’um. Earlier work includes film commissions for Scanner, Springheel Jack, Pole and Monolake which allowed Tonne to produce and generate real time live sound responsive films that accompanied musicians live performances.Since then he has performed his SoundToys software with Frank Bretschneider and Hakan Lidbo. Work with Scanner led to the design and production of large-scale digital installation titled Sound Polaroids which then went out as an international touring project and also as an album on Bip-Hop. More recent releases concentrate on the music and sound design side than the visuals, and his first full length is due on the esteemed Spanich label Klitekture this Summer, titled Lilium.
